Dr. Raphael Rose is a licensed clinical psychologist in California (PSY 21412), and a Researcher in the UCLA Department of Psychology where he conducts treatment outcome research on anxiety, mood, stress, resilience, and related areas. He is Associate Director of the Anxiety and Depression Research Center (ADRC) -- directed by Professor Michelle G. Craske -- where he trains and supervises students in the Clinical Psychology PhD program.
Dr. Rose is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences where he trains and supervises psychiatry residents in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in the UCLA Anxiety Disorders Program.
Dr. Rose specializes in anxiety and mood disorders, and stress resilience training. He works with performers and athletes to build resilience skills and achieve peak performance.
Dr. Rose has been conducting research with NASA for 10 years on stress and resilience and behavioral health. He is currently principal investigator on two NASA-funded projects. One study is evaluating behavioral health treatments with UCLA Medical Center personnel that could ultimaley be used on a long-duration space mission. The other project is evaluating a multimedia stress management and resilience-training program that he developed with flight controllers at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston. He has numerous publications, presents regularly at international conferences, and gives anxiety and stress management and resilience trainings and workshops internationally.
Dr. Rose has been practicing in Los Angeles for over 15 years, and prior to that he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Dartmouth Medical School with a focus on Anxiety Disorders and Behavioral Medicine. He is trained in evidence-based approaches to psychotherapy (i.e., cognitive behavioral therapy; CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Mindfulness approaches.
Dr. Rose employs a collaborative approach with his clients to help them master skills and techniques that can help them overcome problematic areas, lead to personal growth, and live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Dr. Rose and his associates work with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and groups. He also offers corporate consulting services and peak performance training designed to help individuals achieve optimal performance and satisfaction.
